At HAYLO People, we specialise in recruitment across Personal Injury and General Insurance. We are currently partnering with a leading organisation looking to recruit a brand new role to support the Self Insurance claims team on an initial 12-month contract.
The role of a Technical Manager would suit an experienced workers compensation professional looking to take the next step in their career. You'll play a key role in providing technical leadership across a self-insured portfolio, supporting Case Managers with complex entitlement decisions, coaching technical capability and driving quality claims outcomes.

The role:
Provide technical guidance and support to Case Managers managing complex workers compensation claims.
Review and endorse claims decisions, ensuring they are fair, evidence-based and compliant with workers compensation legislation.
Determine ongoing entitlement decisions and provide advice on complex liability, strategy and legislative matters.
Conduct technical file reviews, case conferencing and quality assurance activities to promote consistent claims management.
Provide technical advice to employer stakeholders and assist with escalated claims, complaints and disputes.
Liaise with legal representatives on disputed, pre-litigated and litigated matters.
Assist with pre-conciliation reviews, compensation calculations and claims strategy discussions.
About you:
Minimum 4–5 years' Workers Compensation claims experience - VIC Scheme or Self Insurance Experience both accepted.
Previous experience as a Technical Specialist, Technical Advisor, Senior Case Manager or similar, or the technical capability to step into a technical role.
Strong knowledge of Workers Compensation legislation and claims management practices.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication and coaching skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Previous self-insurance experience is advantageous but not essential
