enior Legal Specialist to work directly with them on newly created role with a sole focus of relationship management, negotiations and identifying and drive early resolution of matters to join their

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building their personal brand and credibility as a trusted legal SME, is commercially minded, proactive, solution-focused and thrives on influencing stakeholders rather than running files.
You'll be a key part in focusing on negotiation and achieving early resolutions, along with relationship management working extensively with Legal Providers, plaintiff solicitors and Major Gov Agencies. This is an opportunity to act as a SME and coach and mentor claims specialist within the sensitive claims team, ensuring claims are managed with empathy and procedural fairness.
Key Responsibilities: - Act as the primary internal referral point for complex or sensitive institutional abuse claims.
- Provide technical guidance, coaching and quality assurance feedback to team members on liability, quantum, evidentiary standards and resolution strategies.
- Work closely with external legal teams on matters escalated for referral, ensuring clear articulation of issues, options and recommended strategies.
- Prepare concise reports and recommendations for escalation where trends indicate potential risk, policy implications or the need for targeted interventions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with agencies, claimant representatives and other stakeholders, managing expectations and promoting trauma informed interactions.
- Identify opportunities to improve claims handling processes, templates, decision support tools and workflows to enhance consistency, timeliness and quality.
- Lead or contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including developing guidance materials and participating in audits, reviews and post-implementation evaluations.
Skills and Experience:
- Significant experience (e.g. 5+ years) in complex personal injury such as institutional abuse, historical liability or similar sensitive claims.
- Demonstrated experience working with government schemes, insurers or large institutions.
- Experience briefing and managing external legal providers and working with multiple stakeholder agencies.
- Coaching and mentoring experience
- High level empathy, resilience and professionalism in dealing with sensitive and traumatic subject matter.
